Reading Activity Curriculum National Office Intervention Overview

Reading Activity was built on lessons from the Liberia Teacher Training Program that helped teach critical skills and strategies to develop fluent readers for grades 1 and 2, in two years. It includes systematic instruction in phonological awareness, phonics, spelling, and comprehension. It also includes an assessment system to capture student performance data, determine mastery levels, and make data-driven decisions about instruction and remediation. Lessons are provided through a teacher-friendly instruction guide, a separate student activity book, and student readers. Supplementary readers are also provided for additional opportunities to encourage independent reading.

The Monitoring & Evaluation resources and data collection through the PCApp are designed for implementation over a two-year period.
