Background Information – Static Electricity
When you rub a plastic balloon on your hair or clothing, it causes tiny particles called electrons to jump back and forth with an electrical charge called static electricity. After the balloon is “charged”, it attracts other objects such as the wall or another friend’s hair that has an opposite charge or no charge at all.
