The lesson “Diseases Where I Live and How to Prevent Them” is part 44 of a 46 part series on human development, the human body, health, and safety. This lesson teaches about epidemics and how to prevent them. The lesson also needs to be customized to include diseases that are of particular concern in the local area. This resource includes a lesson plan for the teacher on how to prepare beforehand, class-time content to facilitate learning, hands-on activities facilitating further learning, and a teacher assessment at the end. This lesson is designed for a group of young children between the ages of 9 and 11, and is the forty-fourth physical development lesson in the Core Curriculum, 9-11 years, Year One.
